DETAILED ITINERARY

7:30 am : Driver picks you up at Jungle Lodge departure to visit Doan fair market.

Doan has been the name of the market since the French colonial period in Lung Niem commune, Ba Thuoc district, Thanh Hoa province. This is the place to trade goods and meet the people of Kinh, Muong and Thai ethnic groups in the communes around the region with people in Tan Lac and Lac Son districts from Hoa Binh province.

The market is only open two times a week, on Thursdays, and Sundays, so it’s important to plan your visit accordingly. At the market, you can find a wide variety of goods, including fresh produce, handmade crafts, and traditional clothing. It’s a great place to shop for souvenirs and gifts, as many of the items sold at the market are unique to the area. In addition to shopping, the market is also a great place to try local cuisine. You’ll find a wide variety of street food vendors selling everything from traditional Vietnamese dishes to snacks and desserts.

8:30am: Continue to the Hieu village – Hieu waterfall

Driver continues to take you to the next spots – Hieu village – Hieu waterfall – Duck farm. Guests will follow the small trail winding through the rice terraces, gazing at the silhouette, house floor flickers. The waterfall is about 800m in length, with the stream falling from the top of the mountain.

The Hieu waterfall may have less water during the dry season (from November to April or even May of the following year); however, the cool and refreshing water will still be sufficient for you to soak in and cool off amidst the scorching weather.

Move to duck farm within Hieu village where you can see Cổ Lũng duck - a speciality breed of Pu Luong. The duck has a plump body, short legs, a large neck, and a plumage color similar to that of a sparrow, with a white border around the neck. The duck is low in fat and has a unique flavor. The meat is not tainted, and when boiled, is fragrant even without spices.

10:00am: Driver takes you to Lan Village – brocade weaving village

Lan Village was a place renowned for weaving traditional fabrics for the entire Pu Luong region. People from within a 70km radius would come here to exchange woven fabrics. They would then use these fabrics to tailor traditional clothing for their family members. For Thai women, beauty is not the most important aspect; what matters is the ability to weave clothes for their husbands and children and excel in farming. That's why when you come here, you only see women weaving fabrics.

11:00am: Driver takes you back to Jungle Lodge. Journey's end.
